IT’S ALL ABOUT OBAGI BLUE PEEL RADIANCE!
Are you looking for the perfect skincare regimen to complement your Botox and your fillers? Don’t know what skincare products or skincare routine to go for? Have you ever thought of getting a chemical peel done? So many questions and so many possibilities on the market!
WHICH PEEL TO GO FOR?
I always advise my patients to go for the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance (BPR)! One of the best peels on the market, I love using it on myself and my patients.
Made from salicylic acid skin peel, it can improve specific patient concerns such as;
• Fine lines
• Sun damage
• Uneven skin colour
• Acne scarring
And the benefit you get out of this peel is also about having softer and lighter skin, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. But is this the right peel for you?
HOW DOES OBAGI BPR WORK?
Obagi BPR superficial peel can exfoliate damaged skin layers and rejuvenates the skin by stimulating collagen production. It is suitable for most skin types. Darker skin tones may need extra dosages, depending on what I will assess during the consultation.
During the procedure, I will cleanse your skin with the Obagi BPR pre Solution and then apply the peel for 5 to 10 minutes. During this time, some patients may feel a burning or tingling sensation, but that’s usually very mild. I then remove the peel and apply the Obagi BPR moisturiser, making this a straightforward and quick process! The appointment will last for about 30 minutes, leaving the patients to resume their activities straight after!
Even as a superficial skin peel, Obagi BPR causes flaking on the top skin layers after the 3rd day of application. Some patients flake more than others, depending on their skin types and their current skincare regimen. However, flaking should stop, and healing should be active by the 10th day of application.
ARE THERE ANY COMPLICATIONS TO PEELS?
I always emphasize to my patients that there should be a strict adherence to the protocol after the treatment has finished. It means that the patient has to refrain from picking their skin, which is how to avoid ‘peel lines’. It is essential to be patient and not pick on your skin since peel lines take months to get rid of, potentially scarring the patient in some cases.
Patients rarely experience complications, especially if they follow post-treatment protocol. However, there have been cases of temporary hyperpigmentation problems. These can be correct through further treatment and skincare products. This is why Obagi BPR should be administered by physicians and is not suitable to be applied by the patient on their own.
I recommend one peel every two weeks for a total of 5 to 6 sessions until the patient has achieved the desired result, and the specific concern has been eliminated.
WHICH SKINCARE PRODUCTS TO COMPLEMENT MY PEEL?
I always advise my patients on which routine skincare regimen to have, which complements anti-ageing treatments in harmony. Along with the Obagi BPR, I am a big fan of the Obagi Nu-Derm ®System and the Obagi-C ® Systems product range!
I love the Nu-Derm ® System because it can address what we call photo damage skin. Photo damage is ageing signs caused by harmful UV rays, and the Nu-Derm ® System can correct photo damage and restore health to your skin cells, making your skin look younger and healthier.
The Obagi-C ® Systems product range, on the other hand, contains hydroquinone and L-ascorbic acid. It helps to correct the appearance of hyperpigmentation of the skin, as well as speed up skin shine and clarity. In turn, its added Vitamin C content can minimise future skin cell damage by overriding free radicals.
